Today's recipe for Cheesy Bean Bake (Toastie) uses only 3 ingredients, and is easily made in your air fryer, OR a standard toaster. It's simply baked beans, Cheddar cheese and sandwich thins - those very thin square bread thins you can buy in nearly all supermarkets. I took inspiration for today's recipe from cheesy beans on a baked potato, as well as cheesy beans on toast. But, having bought a new kitchen toy recently, a CRIMPiT, I wanted to expand my stuffed toastie repetoir! The CRIMPiT is a great gadget and one that I have used almost daily since purchasing it; it's basically a press, that you place the two sides of the sandwich thins into, and then it seals the edges to form a non-leak parcel. I bought two, and I've used them for small pasties and pies, as well as bread sandwiches. I find it's often the simple gadgets that work the best. Here's how it works: *Place a slice of thin bread in the base *Add your favourite ingredients *Place a slice of thin bread on the top *Press down with the CRIMPiT lid to crimp your snack *Take out the crimped parcel and pop your CRIMPiT snack into the toaster, under the grill, in the air fryer or dry fry in a pan *When ready eat and enjoy If you cannot source one, then you can still make today's recipe for a Cheesy Bean Bake (Toastie) by simply wetting the edges and crimping with a fork, as if you were making a pie or a pasty with pastry. I've also been experimenting using the sandwich thins with other fillings, to make small hand pies, the recipes of which I will share soon. I've just used beans and cheese as a filling today, but you can add all sorts of extras such as sliced tomato, sliced onion and maybe a sliced cooked sausage too. I hope you enjoy these if you make them, I am also experimenting with sweet fillings too, more about that later.
