A cross between a Satsuma and an orange that took 30 years to develop in Japan, the Sumo is unlike any other tangerine in the marketplace.

As its name indicates, Melissa's Sumo Citrus® are very large, about the size of a Valencia orange, with a distinct knob at the top. This new Mandarin variety is seedless, extremely easy to peel, very juicy and sweet.

Sumo Citrus® have very little pith (the white part of citrus), allowing the fruit to section easily with less of the white netting having to be cleaned from the fruit. Eat out of hand or add to salads and desserts.

Choose citrus that feels heavy (juicy) for its size with a skin that is bright not dull in color. This fruit will stay fresh two weeks under proper refrigeration.

The following prohibit the shipment of any citrus into their state: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, and Hawaii.
