In this listing we are pleased to offer a perfect version of the legendary Krups 75 coffee grinder. This is the version in dark orange, a typical 1970s color. It is in complete, undamaged and working condition, inclusive of the sometimes missing and or broken lid. Moreover it is perfectly clean and ready to use. The official product number of the one on offer here was 775. This “internal” model number changed several times throughout the 5 decades that this KRUPS grinder has been on the market. It has a beautiful oval shape with a transparent removable lid that allows you to look at the action that is going on when operated. The black button on the side of the lid is pushed down to get the grinder in motion. This is sometimes referred to as fast touch. The exterior is entirely made of plastic. It is unknown who designed the “75:. The best indication would be “the Krups design team”. The 75 has become one of the most iconic travel size, hand held coffee grinders to emerge in the 1970s together with Braun’s KSM 1. Krups is still producing the same coffee grinder to this day, albeit (of course) not anymore in wild 1970s colors but only in black. These days the model is called the F203 but the is virtually identical to the original 75 with only a marginal increase in power over the decades (200 watts now versus 180 watts in the 1970s). The German plastics design museum dates the first model of the 75 to 1968, only 1 year after Braun’s legendary KSM 1 from 1967, but we could not find any other other data to back this up. It still has the original label glued to the bottom. Made in Germany for a 220 volt network. It comes complete with the original integrated white power cord with integrated 2-pin flat European plug. With a step up converter it can also be used in countries with a lower voltage network. About Krups Krups was founded In 1846 by Robert Krups, who set up a foundry in the town of Wald, North Rhine Westphalia. His son (also named Robert) moved the company to Solingen, and started to export industrial forging products mostly scales and industrial balances. Krups made scales and balances for over a hundred years and they had a tremendous reputation for quality and accuracy. As of 1946 the company recognized the growing market for electrifying household appliances and decided to diversify. In the 1950s they brought typical kitchen appliances such as mixers and coffee grinders to market. The first coffee grinder dates from around 1956 and the first coffee maker followed in 1961. Krups has always been known for the advanced technical quality of its appliances and sometimes futuristic design. Their motto was … “Beyond Reason”! In the 1980’s Krups was one of the first larger electrical appliances manufacturer that started to produce coffee machines and especially espresso machines with steam and a combination of espresso along with regular coffee appliances. Early 1990s Krups smartly partnered with Nestlé to produce the first coffee Nespresso machines. The brand still exists today but is now part of the French SEB group. Measurement: Height: 17.3 cm / 6.81 inches Width: ca 10 cm / ca 3.94 inches Depth: ca 13 cm / 5.12 inches Length of the original power cord: 142 cm / 55.91 inches Weight: 718 grams. Condition: Very good condition. This is a used and cleaned coffee grinder. There is no damage to the plastic anywhere inclusive of the lid: no cracks, no chips off, no colored stains. Color orange still fresh and the plastic still has a very good gloss. No discolouration from sunlight. As with any used vintage household object made of plastic there are scratches, rubbing lines and scuffs from normal use. Most of these scratches / lines can only be seen if you hold the grinder to the light under a certain angle but there are a few deeper running scuffs and scratches, especially on the backside. The white plastic parts around the grinder blades on the inside have, under the influence of ground coffee, changed color to beige. The power cord has over time changed color to cream white and the plug is lightly patchy with some staining but otherwise is in fine undamaged condition. DISCLAIMER This is a vintage electrical appliance that is currently in perfectly working order. We cannot give any guarantees to its life expectancy but this is a well build grinder and there are no reasons to assume that it will not work for many years if not decades to come.
