Here is a classic Vintage 1950S GE Automatic Electric Coffee Percolator in Chrome with a Black Bakelite Handle. It is a General Electric Coffee 10 cup Percolator with a Brew Strength Dial that lights up when the coffee is done brewing and shuts off and stops brewing when the desired strength is.
Here is a classic Vintage 1950'S GE Automatic Electric Coffee Percolator in Chrome with a Black Bakelite Handle. It is a General Electric Coffee 10 cup Percolator with a Brew Strength Dial that lights up when the coffee is done brewing and shuts off and stops brewing when the desired strength is reached. There is also a Re-Heat Setting that allows you to reheat your coffee when it gets cold. This Vintage GE Percolator was manufactured by the GE Company in Barrie Ontario Canada sometimes in the 1950's. The style of percolator is the more the unusual pot belly style with a short spout and black Bakelite handle. The body is made of Chrome with an etched design on each side. The chrome body sits on a black Bakelite base that has four legs and a brew strength and auto shot off lever on the back above the cord outlet. The power cord is a 6 ft cord made from appliance rubber with a two prong end. The coffee basket is a 9 cup basket that is made from black plastic instead of the usual aluminum basket that you would commonly find with percolators from this period. I am not sure if the coffee basket is original to this pot or if was switched at a later date. This was and still is a common practice in percolators and this for two main reasons. People feel that the Aluminum baskets leave an after taste in the coffee once it has been brewed. There are also some people who feel that the Aluminum baskets are unhealthy. This particular Vintage 1950's GE Automatic Electric Percolator is in Excellent condition and still works as originally intended. The Brew Strength and Auto shut off work and the red light lights when brew is done. There are no breaks or cracks in the Bakelite and is good all the way around. The Chrome is good with no dents, rust or other tarnish however there are a few minor scratches from use and should be considered normal for a vintage pierce of this age. The power cord is a long cord being 6 feet and has no issues with it. The basket is made of black plastic and is excellent shape with no cracks or breaks and is clearly marked on the inside with the different cup levels up to 9 Cups. The glass brewing viewer on the lid is original and is clean and no issues. This is a very good complete working Vintage GE automatic electric percolator that makes a great cup of coffee the way it would have in the 1950's.
